Where to start?

You have a business idea, you definitely want to be successful (who doesn't?) and want to do things the right way, so you figured you would hire a designer to take care of your branding, website and the works. Now where to start? Well, here is a handy check list for you:

1. First you have to figure out your aimed market. And trust us, «everybody» is not a good market! The more narrow your market is, the easier it will be for you to plan your marketing!
2. Then write down what you want. A whole branding, or just a logo with a website? Now is a good time to evaluate your budget too.
3. Then you research the designer best fit to do your branding. A hint here, check out websites which you love the design (or even your competition), they usually have a credit line with a link to the designer's site. Now go to their portfolio, check out their work, read their recommendation page. Got a good feeling? Sweet! Now contact them (or us, lol).
4. When contacting a designer (by phone or by email) list what you want to have done and be precise. Have a custom quote made for you.
5. It's a good idea to ask references from the designer. You can also contact their past client and ask around for feedback. Also, ask how they work.
6. Shop around!
7. When you have decided with wich designer to go, SIGN A CONTRACT with them.
8. Then the work begin! Be sure to keep tract of milestones, to-do list, etc. A good designer will be organized and super informative and communicative.
